Camp Trach Me Away seeks to empower children and young adults with tracheostomies and their families by providing resources, promoting advocacy, and advancing community awareness in order to foster independence and life-long wellness.
Medical and nursing professionals support Camp Trach Me Away campers on all fronts. Three camp counselors/nurses are assigned to each camper to ensure their safety and wellbeing. There are physicians and respiratory therapists at camp at all times to provide support as needed. Each campers is monitored overnight by Camp Trach me Away medical team.
Cristy is the executive director and co-founder of Camp Trach Me Away. She has over 20 years of experience as a registered nurse with extensive experience in home care working with special needs children and adults. Cristy has spent her career in clinical and operational roles with a focus on ensuring individuals can be cared for safely in their own homes. She spends much of her time advocating for those who can’t advocate for themselves.
Dr. Popler a co-founder of Camp Trach Me Away and our medical director. He is board-certified in both pediatrics and pediatric pulmonology. Dr. Popler is a Fellow of both the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American College of Chest Physicians. He is a member of the American Thoracic Society and works as a pediatric pulmonologist at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.
Carmen has been on the Board of Camp Trach Me Away since it was founded. She brings almost twenty years of legal experience and ten years of experience providing in-house legal support for pediatric healthcare companies.
Marc has dedicated his career to working with medically fragile children, first as a Pediatric Physical Therapist and then as a member of Thrive Skilled Pediatric Care. He works with artists to create songbooks that benefit non-profit organizations for kids, including Camp Trach Me Away.
Dr. Timme is the Founder and President of FinListics Solutions, a company that helps enterprise sales organizations better show the business and financial benefits of their solutions. Dr. Timme formerly was a Finance Professor at Emory University and an Adjunct Professor at the Georgia Institute of Technology.
Dr. Gaydos has been involved with Camp Trach Me Away since it was founded.
He is a pediatrician and East Area Assistant Chief of Pediatrics with Kaiser Permanent.
Dr. Dias is board certified in both pediatrics and pediatric pulmonology. He works as a pediatric pulmonologist at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. Dr Dias has participated on the Board of camp since its inception. He often attend camp and loves cheering on campers going up the rock wall!
Lauren has been a member of the Camp Trach Me Away team for four years. She has an extensive history directing various camps within the Camp Twin Lakes programs.
